End Your Daily Strife At A Reasonable Price…

I’m in the mood for some change.

Well, I was hoping the return of Journalspace would include the return of some of the old features, like being able to customize my layout. Instead, we get absorbed by WordPress, which is probably one of the most unfriendly sites for customizable layouts imaginable.

There have been some improvements, though. The arrangement of the homepage is better, the top menu is helpful, and the site just looks more professional overall.

Well, that’s enough for now. I am considering setting up my own website at this point. It would be a time- and resource-consuming endeavor, but I think it would be worth it.

Have you read the JS Developer’s blog? He’s going to be installing several of the old JS features over the next few months, but no word yet on customizable layouts.

    I’m keeping my fingers crossed!

Yes, the inability to customise your own blog is a major downside with the resurrected Journalspace at the moment, and why I’m remaining at Blogger for the time being, with just a placeholder for my name here. I’ll wait and see how things go on.

Good luck with setting up your own site – but remember, unless it’s of phenomenal interest, it won’t get any readers. You need a blog for something like that. I know, as I’ve done it myself. It’s great fun to be fully in control, but it is a solitary pastime.

CaptainMando: I hope so. At the moment, I’ve looked into writing your own templates for WordPress, and it’s different (to say the least).

Simon: Blogger didn’t seem much better. There was much more in the way of freedom, but their current system makes code editing a tedious process. Perhaps I shouldn’t complain; at least they’re demanding that you know what you’re doing before you jump right into web design. It’s just that they condense all of your code into a single frame, which you then must sift through meticulously in order to make adjustments. Can we at least get a little separation between the head and the body of the document?
